Check the obvious places first, contact the seller within days, then escalate with records.
The tracking page for your bag order says delivered, but there is nothing at your door and nobody in your household has seen the parcel.
Start with the simple checks, then contact the seller in writing, and use the carrier’s missing-mail process or a card dispute if it is not solved. A “delivered” scan can be wrong, early or for a neighbouring address, and most such cases are resolved by acting in order.
Step by step
- Look around the delivery point: porch, side door, bins, back of the building, reception or mail room.
- Ask the people you live with, and neighbours, and check for a card from the carrier.
- Check the tracking page for a delivery photo, a location note or a signature.
- Wait a short time, as scans can come before the parcel reaches you.
- Contact the seller in writing, with the order number and a screenshot of the tracking.
- If the parcel went by USPS, a missing-mail search request can be submitted online from 7 days after mailing, according to USPS.
If the seller does not help
The FTC says that if a seller has not lived up to its promises, you should first try to work it out with the seller. If that fails, contact the company you used to pay and dispute the charge. A credit card issuer can investigate a charge for goods not delivered.
Keep records
Keep the order confirmation, the seller’s messages, the tracking screenshots and your statement showing the payment. The FTC lists these as the records to keep when you shop online.

Three more perspectives
Before ordering a valuable bag, check the seller’s delivery terms: signature on delivery, insurance and the process for lost parcels. A seller who explains this clearly before you pay is easier to deal with when something goes wrong.
Choose a delivery option that suits your home. A pickup point or a locker may be safer than a doorstep if nobody is in. Ask the seller to add delivery instructions, such as leaving it with a neighbour you name.
Take a screenshot of the tracking page, the delivery time and any photo as soon as you notice. Tracking pages change, and an image of what it said on the day is useful evidence when you contact the seller or your card issuer.
